Liverpool duo nominated for prestigious Golden Boy award

A couple of young Liverpool players have been included in the nominees for the 2019 Tuttosport Golden Boy award.

Goalkeeper Kamil Grabara and Welsh international Ben Woodburn have been put forward, along with another 78 young professionals.

The award is given for performances based on the yearly calendar, and not how players have performed in one particular season.

Everyone nominated has to be under the age of 21 and play in top-flight league of the country they play in.

Raheem Sterling, a previous winner, picked up the Golden Boy award while he was still playing for Liverpool.

Grabara spent last season on loan with Denmark outfit AGF Aarhus in which the historic club finished ninth – well safe from relegation from the top flight.

He made 16 appearances for the senior squad last season – dare I say he’s probably ready to step up when he returns from his loan to Huddersfield?

Woodburn is currently on tour with the senior squad in the US as the Reds prepare for the upcoming season. The Welshmn spent the first half of last year on loan at Sheffield United, but the deal was cut short.

Former Liverpool winger Bobby Adekanye is also on the list, following his move to Lazio earlier this month.
