Jordan Henderson names the Reds man who’ll be ‘like a new signing’ next season

Jordan Henderson says Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can be like a new signing for the Reds in 2019-20 after the midfielder missed the entirety of last season through injury.

Since recovering from the injury – sustained during the Champions League semi-final clash with Roma in April 2018 – Oxlade-Chamberlain has looked sharp and strong in training and it is believed that he is on the way back to hitting the hieghts he reached before the setback.

According to the Daily Express, Henderson said: “He has looked so strong, so good in training. This pre-season is important for him and I’m sure he will be flying again.

“He is like a new signing for us. He is such a fantastic player for us, so powerful and he gives us something different. He is a massive player to have back.”

To have won the Champions League with Oxlade-Chamberlain missing for the whole season was a great achievement – with him in the squad, there’s an extra option to choose from in midfield.

His drives forward from the centre of the pitch and ability to shoot from outside the box is something the Reds haven’t had in his absence.

The Reds won’t be making many moves in the transfer window this summer – and the business might have already been finished – but Henderson is right: Oxlade-Chamberlain will make as big an impact as any new arrival could have next season.
