Klopp singles out youngster for special praise after performance in friendly

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wanted to spend time talking about Academy left-back Yasser Larouci following the defeat to Borussia Dortmund last night after he did well against the electric Jadon Sancho.

Larouci impressed a lot against Tranmere Rovers and Bradford City before the Reds embarked on their US tour, but this match was an altogether different challenge.

Klopp is a huge fan of Dortmund winger Sancho and was impressed with how Larouci did in what was probably the biggest test of his career to date.

Klopp said, via the Metro: “Being good in big spaces and in small spaces makes you a pretty interesting player – and that’s what Jadon is.

“Yasser [Larouci], our 18-year-old left-back, played against one of the biggest talents in world football and did pretty well the whole night. The pitch helped a little but, but still he did really well.”

Adam Lewis is probably still ahead of Larouci in the pecking order, but the youngster has done himself a huge favour so far this pre-season. He’s likely to get another chance to shine against Sevilla in the Reds’ next match, at 11pm on Sunday UK time.
