Klopp talks up former Man City starlet after Dortmund pre-season loss

Liverpool fell 3-2 to Borussia Dortmund at Notre Dame overnight in the first round of the American stretch of the Reds’ pre-season tour.

Jurgen Klopp was impressed by Yasser Larouci’s performance which speaks volumes of his opinion of former Manchester City star Jadon Sancho.

The Reds boss was chatting to reporters after the game. “He’s an exceptional talent but he’s not the only one in England at the moment,he’s quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo after the game.

That age group has already a few – Rhian Brewster is the same age. Raheem Sterling, for example. I don’t want to forget any wingers, but there are a lot of talents; young and very, very promising players in England.

There is no doubt about the potential of Jadon Sancho. His speed and body control at the highest speed is his main strength.

Being good in big spaces and in small spaces makes you a pretty interesting player – and that’s what Jadon is.

Yasser, our 18-year-old left-back, played against one of the biggest talents in world football and did pretty well the whole night. The pitch helped a little but, but still he did really well.

Larouci made another good account of himself against Dortmund, and has shown fans that he’s not just a converted winger and can possibly take some workload off Andy Robertson.

Fellow full back Adam Lewis also impressed again as he was brought on for the Algerian halfway through the second half, but the aforementioned Robertson took up his usual place and the Scouser found himself in midfield.

Versatility is something Klopp sees as invaluable, and seeing Lewis already being deployed in two positions, and impressing, will please the German to no end.
