Gini Wijnaldum has been at Liverpool for three years now – and what a three years it has been.
Many Reds fans were unsure about his abilities when he arrived from Newcastle United – who had just been relegated to the Championship – for £25 million, but few would doubt him being a crucial member of the squad now.
At first, he would be exceptional at Anfield and less imposing away from home, but over the last year or so, that has certainly changed.
That performance against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final will live long in the memory, but it was far from the only all-action showing he has produced wearing red.
As much as it’s been a pleasure for fans to watch Wijnaldum for the most part, now in a deeper role than he played earlier in his career, the Dutchman says he’s enjoyed every minute as well.
It’s already 3 years ago that I joined this wonderful club. And with becoming Champions of Europe dreams came true. 💪🏾 I feel so blessed to be part of this incredible team and club. Thanks Liverpool for believing in me and all Reds for the amazing support. 🙏🏾 #YNWA 🔴🔴🔴 pic.twitter.com/92ALeyIuxu

Hopefully he’ll continue to perform at the incredible levels he reached last season for a few more years and there can be one or two more nights like Barca to come.
