Reds man claims he’s turned down five approaches this summer

Loris Karius has claimed that he has already turned down five offers this summer to cut short his loan spell in Turkey with Besiktas and join another club on a permanent deal.

The German is halfway through a two-year loan which will become a permanent transfer for £7.25 million in 12 month’s time, but according to the Daily Mail, Karius says two clubs in the UK and three in Germany were all keen to sign him now.

Karius played 35 times for Besiktas last season and says he turned down all five opportunities because he wants to stay put and is happy where he is.

He has no future at Liverpool – certainly not as a number one goalkeeper – but it must be a big boost for him that a few clubs have enquired this summer. As far as we were aware, the two-year loan could not be cut short under the terms of the deal that was signed, but perhaps if he pushed for a move, Besiktas would have been willing to alter that.

After what happened in his last match for the Reds, his stock obviously fell considerably even if there were mitigating factors. It will be interesting whether he opts to stay in Turkey next summer or move elsewhere.
