Jurgen Klopp has slammed the schedule that his players will face in the upcoming season, saying it is ‘unacceptable’ to expect players to compete at the highest level so frequently.
The Reds will compete in the four usual competitions – the league, the Champions League and the two domestic trophies – but will also have the Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup to contend with.

With the speed and physicality levels that the modern game demands, more and more pressure is being placed on the players.
Klopp said, via The Telegraph: “We sit here and it sounds like I am having a moan or whatever. It is just the situation, in the long-term, is not acceptable. It looks like nobody can imagine a week without football in the year. When did that happen? A game again, a game again.
“It is difficult, difficult for the boys. Everything will be fine this season. But in the long-term? We have to change it. There must be breaks. Come on, let them go. Be brave. Don’t treat every game like it is the last of a decade.”
Klopp is absolutely spot on as always, but there is nothing that will be done. Money talks in football and more matches means more revenue.
All the Reds can do is make sure the squad is ready to compete on as many fronts as possible. Signing a couple more players might be useful in order to allow for a little more rotation as well…
