Van Dijk outlines Reds’ target for next season – and names the month that will prove if it’s possible

Virgil van Dijk says the Reds will do their best once again to win the Premier League next season – pinpointing December as being a crucial month that will need to be traversed en route.

The Reds only lost once last season and a similar result will be needed next season if Manchester City are to be toppled given they have spent big once again.

In December, as well as Premier League matches including the Merseyside derby, the Reds will compete in the Club World Cup as European champions. In total, Jurgen Klopp and his players could win seven trophies across the campaign.

Via the Daily Mirror, Van Dijk said: “Every Liverpool fan dreams of the Premier League. Everyone is waiting for it. We were so close last year. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen but the only thing we can do is go for it.

“There are so many games. Our December period is a madness, basically. Last season we lost only one game, we did everything we could but City were just a little bit better than us.”

Having ticked one major trophy off the list as a Liverpool player, Van Dijk and the rest of the squad will be desperate to win the league.

It will take another almighty effort – made even more difficult by fixture congestion – but there is no reason to think the Reds can’t do it.
