Sepp van den Berg became the Reds’ first summer signing when he arrived from PEC Zwolle for a fee potentially rising to £4.3 million, but he has so far been unable to make his debut.
It’s almost a month since the deal was done, but Van den Berg is yet to play because he is still awaiting clearance from FIFA. According to the Metro, the Reds have been in discussions with FIFA over the hold-up, but it is yet to be resolved.

Van den Berg will be loving training with his new teammates, but Jurgen Klopp had wanted him to feature quite a bit in the pre-season games, as the likes of Rhian Brewster and Yasser Larouci have. It must be frustrating for the young Dutchman that he has been stopped from joining in the matches so far.
The Reds play Sporting Lisbon next, in the early hours of Thursday morning. At this stage, it appears to be unlikely that he will be playing then, either, unless something changes pretty quickly.
Hopefully, the issue can be sorted before the season proper gets underway – we don’t want it to become a distraction for anyone and he might well be needed at times given the hectic schedule to come.
