LFC chairman suggests winning the PL is Reds top priority for the coming season

In an extended interview with the club’s official website, LFC’s chairman, FSG’s Tom Werner, was quietly confident in his subtly bullish optimism about the upcoming season.

“This is the start of a resurgence,” Werner defiantly claimed. “I don’t look at this as a pinnacle. We are focused on this year have a lot to accomplish. We are focused on next month and the Community Shield.

“We know we have formidable competition, but hopefully we will win the Premier League this season and it will be another great chapter.

“We’d like to win as many trophies this year as possible. What we want to do is honour the relationship we have with our fans by creating memories.

“We are all going in the same direction and we also want to be good in the community. We know what the meaning is for Liverpool to all our supporters.”

Fenway Sports Group have always understood how much Liverpool means to the fans (even when they U-turned after a poorly-judged misstep over ticket price hikes back in 2016).

Therefore, Werner’s comments here should be taken in good faith – they are extremely appreciative of the significance of a warm, robust relationship with the fanbase.

We believe FSG’s declaration of cooperation with Reds fans and have every confidence that we’re all pulling in the same direction to achieve success.

With seven trophies up for grabs in the upcoming season, the Community Shield represents the first opportunity to turn ambition into tangible results once again.

While it might seem to be a glorified friendly, the same can not be said of the Premier League – the ultimate prize.

Like everyone, Werner believes that the league title is the priority for the 2018/19 season, the winning of which would put to rest a 30-year hiatus for the Reds.

With Jürgen Klopp at the helm, FSG in the boardroom, and the players out on the pitch, we have given ourselves every chance to realise that dream.
