LFC left frustrated by FIFA’s poor handling of Club World Cup arrangements

Liverpool remain frustratingly in the dark about the specificities and particulars of their inclusion in this  FIFA’s Club World Cup to be played this December.

After a June annoucement heralded the invitation of the Reds to the Qatar-hosted Club World Cup, The Mail report that Jürgen Klopp and Anfield top brass are exasperated at the lack of information.

From what has been disseminated, the competition will kick off on December 11th with the final in Doha to follow on December 22nd.

Within that period, the Reds would enter the tournament at the semi-final stage arranged for staging on December 18th. The upshot of that, however, would be an fixture pile-up and the rescheduling of an away match against West Ham on December 21st.

The Echo also report that an official invitation has not even been extended to the Reds, while the actual rules of the tournament and the concrete fixture dates are similarly unconfirmed.

Accordingly, it is understood the Premier League will make provisions in the event of this and try to keep the disarray to a minimum.

In any case, the Reds still don’t know the criteria for squad submissons and have not received travel instructions. The latter could exacerbate a period of playing plentitude where the festive season and a domestic cup run could wreak havoc on Klopp’s fixture list.

The club remain in a position of seeking clarification on the matter.
