Liverpool defender to face short stint on the sidelines after positive scans

Liverpool youngster Yasser Larouci was on the receiving end of an outrageous tackle during the Reds pre-season friendly with Sevilla in the US.

Joris Gnagnon was given his marching orders for the outrageous challenge which seemingly came out of nowhere as he clipped the defender, and several Liverpool players were visibly appalled by it.

Larouci left the field on a stretcher, and fans feared the worst, but it’s not all bad news.

The youngster is set to face a number of weeks – not months – on the sidelines, the club has confirmed. Nothing is fractured, he’s just bruised some bones.

Scans were delayed on the teenager as the swelling from the injury was so severe. It likely means that the left-back’s pre-season is over, but he’ll be ready to go for the new season.

Larouci will take up his role at the Reds’ U19s squad for the upcoming season in which he’ll feature in a more advanced role to shat we’ve seen on tour.

The Algerian born teenager was impressing on tour, and it’s a massive shame that he’ll probably miss the rest of it, but he made a great impression and it’ll give Adam Lewis more time to the same – a silver lining of sorts.
