New Arsenal signing makes hilarious claim about the Gunners involving the Reds

Arsenal signed William Saliba from Saint-Etienne for £27 million earlier today, and while being unveiled, the 18-year-old defender made a frankly ridiculous claim about his new club which involves the Reds.

According to Football.London, Saliba said: “[Arsenal] is the biggest club in England for me, so it was an easy decision [to go there].”

Of course, he’d want to say something to get Arsenal fans onside early on in his Gunners career. But this taking that a little too far!

The Reds finished 27 points ahead of Arsenal last season in the Premier League and are, of course, the current European champions.

Arsenal defenders in recent times are infamous for their often strange decision-making and this might just be another example of this.

To suggest that Arsenal are a big club is absolutely fair. Bigger than the Reds or Manchester United, though? Not a chance.

The Reds will face the Gunners at Anfield in August, with the league game at the Emirates set for May.
