Jurgen Klopp outlines the two key reasons why he chose the Reds in 2015

Jurgen Klopp has been reflecting on his time at Liverpool so far, explaining the factors which led to him arriving at Anfield having left Borussia Dortmund.

The German originally wanted to take longer out of the game having left the Bundesliga club in the summer, but when Brendan Rodgers left the Reds in October and the Anfield job was vacant, it was too good an opportunity to turn down.

Now he has revealed the two key factors which made that the case.

Klopp told ESPN in an excellent interview: “To be honest, that day when we were here and spoke we were full of hope, full of dreams, full of optimism.

“Why would I not be? I signed [on] to become manager because it’s a wonderful club. I liked the squad, I loved the history, all that stuff.”

Ironically, both of those things have changed since he came in. The squad is much different now, while the club’s history has been expanded by the Champions League victory in Madrid.

It doesn’t look like the Reds’ squad will evolve much more this summer, but hopefully it shouldn’t be long before more trophies are added to the collection with the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup to be played for over the next few weeks.

An exciting new season under Klopp is almost upon us.
