Reds fan makes a great point about Everton’s new stadium

We admit it: the plans for Everton’s new stadium look absolutely incredible.

It’s no Anfield, of course, but compared to Goodison Park, it’s a massive upgrade for the city of Liverpool.

Like Jamie Carragher said yesterday, the new ground can only be beneficial for the city, and will make an attractive addition to the waterfront area.

As one Reds fan pointed out, though, there is a slight problem with it: the capacity.

In the same week that the Blues’ first home game of the season against Watford went on general sale having not sold out, announcing a new ground with many more seats seems like an odd move, however much an upgrade in facilities was desperately needed.

The new stadium will actually only have a capacity of 52,000 to begin with, but even so, that’s still a 12,500 increase on Goodison Park.

The main takeaway we get from the plans is that the Reds need to get on with expanding Anfield further. It would be crazy for Anfield to only be 2000 seats larger.
