The Premier League’s youngest-ever player, Harvey Elliott, has been confirmed as the Reds second signing of the summer!

The club finally made the annoucement on Sunday and the 16-year-old will join up with Jürgen Klopp’s squad for the Napoli friendly at Murrayfield.

Making a debut with his Instagram post, Elliott said, “I am so happy to be able to announce that I have signed for @LiverpoolFC.

“To have joined the club that I supported as a boy is a dream come true for me and all of my family and it’s an incredible feeling to now officially be able to call myself a Red!

“I can’t wait to get started and it will be a truly special feeling to pull the famous red jersey on. I’ll work as hard as I possibly can for the club and I feel Anfield is the perfect place for me to develop and progress as a player.”

The fact that Elliott has confirmed theories he is a boyhood Reds fan adds an extra edge to his arrival at Anfield.

This public declaration of his love for Liverpool will please Reds fans to no end and we can expect the new No. 67 to wear the shirt bursting with pride.

The teenage winger arrives at Anfield as the youngest debutant in Premier League history; aged just 16 years and 30 days, Elliott came on against Wolves in May to set the record.

Liverpool apparently beat off competition from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid to secure his services after the teenager rejected a scholarship offer from Fulham to join the Reds.

Under the guidance of Klopp and his staff, it is hoped that Elliott’s development will be well-served – if he fulfils the potential he reportedly has, the Reds could have quite the player on their hands for the future.
