Reds again linked with big-game player who “fits perfectly for a season or two”

Liverpool have been touted as one of several clubs that former Paris Saint-Germain full-back, Dani Alves, would thrive despite the 36-year-old approaching the swansong of his playing days.

“He could play for Liverpool or City or United,” Brazilian journalist, Julio Gomes Filho, has reportedly claimed.

Also being mentioned in the same breath as Tottenham Hotspur and a Juventus return being mooted, Filho claims: “He could play only the big matches and he would be such a positive influence inside the dressing room because he’s a winner. He’s a winner.

“It’s hard to find players with a winner mentality and also very good football at their feet. There are a lot of winning players that are not that good, there are a lot of great players that don’t have the right mentality.

“I think Dani Alves fits perfectly for a season or two.”

As European champions, with a crown to retain, Alves’ big game expertise could prove to be useful in any event we are short of James Milner or, indeed, he is called upon to come in for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Despite being in the autumn of his years, Alves’ performances for Brazil showed his career could see an Indian summer before things start winding down.

Playing alongside Alisson and Roberto Firmino in their victorious Copa América campaign, Alves could  potentially offer Jürgen Klopp another senior voice in the dressing room and help the Reds to maintain a winning mentality.

That said, possible impossibly high wages might put the boss off bringing him into the squad. Comically transparent about his desire to find a new club, injury to Nathaniel Clyne might still make Klopp think about answering his CV plea.
