Reds man once again linked with exit in Italian press – but all might not be as it seems

One of Dejan Lovren’s representatives is due in Milan this weekend, as rumours of a move to I Rossoneri have resurfaced in Italy.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Croatian’s agents have already met with AC Milan in the recent past, and could end up doing so again in a few day’s time.

The rumours about the defender had died down a little for a week or more, but it is claimed that now Milan have sorted out other priorities, including selling Patrick Cutrone to Wolves, they now want to come back to the table.

Bjorn Bezemer is the man expected to represent Lovren in Italy, though as Sport Witness point out, he also represents Fortuna Dusseldorf’s Kaan Ayhan, who is interesting Atalanta.

It might simply be that the Italian media outlet have found out that Bezemer is heading to Milan and have put two and two together. He could just as easily be there to meet Atalanta – or someone else – about another of his clients.

If there is anything in the Lovren assumption, however, then the Reds’ asking price of £25 million would surely still stand. If he was to leave, another senior centre-back would have to be signed, so Jurgen Klopp might simply say Lovren has to stay put, not wanting to have to dip into the market at this late stage, just before the campaign begins.

Had Milan made a move earlier in the window, a deal could well have taken place at the right price given Lovren’s age, but right now it seems unlikely.
