Reds man ‘open to’ exit with club bizarrely believing they can get him for bargain fee

Roma believe that they can make the most of a healthy relationship between themselves and the Reds to sign Dejan Lovren for as little as £11 million this summer.

The 30-year-old fell below both Joe Gomez and Joel Matip in the pecking order last season, and Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sports Mole) say he would be open to a move.

Having signed Mo Salah and Alisson for bargain fees over the last couple of years, the Reds do perhaps owe Roma a good deal, but the price for Lovren was set at £25 million earlier in the summer.

That is likely to remain, though there could be something in the fact that the Reds would want to maintain a good relationship with Roma with future transfer dealings in mind.

Losing Lovren now, however, would seem a bizarre move. Perhaps in January or next summer, the Reds would be willing to entertain the offer, but right now, with little time to acquire a replacement, it does not appear to make much sense.
