Reds man ‘truly sorry’ as he issues statement following Lyon win

16-year-old Reds winger Harvey Elliott, who impressed in yesterday’s victory over Lyon, has apologised for any offence caused after a video emerged which appeared to show him mocking Harry Kane during the Champions League final in June.

Elliott claims the video, which was posted on Snapchat, was not aimed at anyone in particular, but admits that his actions were ‘immature and senseless’. It is claimed that he called the Spurs captain a ‘f*****g m**g’ in the clip.

Now that he’s at Liverpool, Elliott’s behaviour will come under more scrutiny than ever before and he will have to grow up fast. Behind the scenes, the Reds will be helping him as much as possible, offering as much assistance and guidance as they can.

Elliott impressed on the pitch on his debut against Napoli, and then even more so with a longer appearance against Lyon, after which the apology was issued.

He’s a couple of years away from being a first team regular, but Elliott could find himself getting minutes here and there for the first team this season. There is also the option of him going out on loan.
