Henderson names the ‘outstanding’ team the Reds will have to be wary of this season

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says that Tottenham will be competing right at the very top of the Premier League this season alongside the Reds and Manchester City.

Last year, Pep Guardiola’s side and the Reds were streets ahead of everyone else, but Henderson says Tottenham are looking good ahead of the new campaign. The comments come not long after Kevin de Bruyne said the title winners might only need 85 points next season.

Via the Daily Star, Henderson said: “Everyone will talk about Liverpool and [Manchester] City because they won the league and were so good and we won the Champions League.

“It is easy to do that. But you have to look at the other teams. They are going to improve. I watched Spurs against Juventus in a friendly and they were outstanding. There are more teams than us and City who will be competing.”

Tottenham are a very good side, but their competitiveness might depend on how much more transfer business they can get done. Tanguy N’Dombele is an excellent addition, but Mauricio Pochettino wanted more and is not happy at the moment.

If Spurs don’t make more signings, not only will their squad be incomplete, but their manager will be frustrated by the hierarchy. He could have left to go elsewhere, but stayed in North London presumably having been promised funds for new players.

We still think it will be the Reds and City who finish in the top two places. Whatever happens, though, it’s set to be another enthralling season.
