The impressive record the Reds can break against Pep Guardiola and Manchester City on Sunday

The Reds head to Wembley on Sunday afternoon to face Manchester City in the Community Shield with the first of seven pieces of silverware that Jordan Henderson could be lifting this season up for grabs.

It will be more than just that on offer, though, as the Reds have the chance to get one over Manchester City ahead of the new season, which will see the two clubs go head-to-head once more in the Premier League title race.

And that’s not all. According to the Liverpool ECHO, Guardiola has lost four of his eight matches against the Reds in all competitions, winning twice and drawing twice.

No side has beaten one of his teams more than four times, with Chelsea and Real Madrid also on four wins. Beat City at Wembley in the Community Shield and the Reds will become outright leaders in that regard.

It’s not the main aim on Sunday – far from it, in fact – but that would be a nice added bonus. Given that according to Transfermarkt, Guardiola has faced Real Madrid 17 times and the Reds only eight times, that record is pretty impressive.
