Paul Ince savages Jesse Lingard before season starts

Former Liverpool skipper Paul Ince has had a serious dig at Manchester United’s social media happy midfielder Jesse Lingard.

In a wonderfully scathing attack, Ince has called the England international ‘bang average’ and stated he’d be out of the door if Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge.

“Players like Jesse Lingard think they’re bigger than the club and the manager. If Fergie was in charge they wouldn’t be doing it, they wouldn’t even still be at the club,” he said, reported in the Mirror.

“Jesse has been bang average this year and if I’d performed the way he did last season the last thing I would do is post anything on social media. The way he played last season he should be embarrassed.”

Ince enjoyed a short stint at Anfield, but never truly won over the fans due to his former allegiances to Old Trafford.

He now earns money doing some fairly ropey punditry, in the main.

Lingard’s chances of featuring for United have probably increased today with his club not buying any more midfielders, despite being linked to most of them in Europe…

We wouldn’t consider them rivals for this season, although can accept that despite Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka being overpriced, the defence has improved drastically.
