Former Reds man Glen Johnson goes in two-footed on his ex-teammate with brutal comments

Former Reds full-back Glen Johnson has launched a scathing attack on his ex-Stoke City teammate Saido Berahino.

Johnson says Berahino’s attitude was a disgrace, stating bluntly that he simply did not like the striker.

Berahino was tipped for big things when he first came to prominence. At one stage, it looked like Tottenham were going to sign him for up to around £25 million according to the Guardian and it was thought that he would have a decent career for England’s senior team, having impressed with the youth sides.

Johnson, though, says he has completely the wrong attitude to succeed at the top level of professional football.

Speaking on TalkSport, Johnson, who retired this summer, said: “He had the wrong mentality, the wrong attitude from day one. He was always going against the grain. It was like he had a vendetta. It was every day.

“I didn’t like him. If was a manager or an owner of a club, I wouldn’t take him if he paid me to play.”

Berahino is still only 26 and is reportedly set to sign for Belgian side Zulte this summer on a free transfer. He could have done so much more with his talent, but it just goes to show the importance of doing rigorous background checks on players.
