Gary Lineker backs Liverpool to win the 2019/20 Premier League title

Last season, the Premier League title race went right down to the last day with Liverpool keeping up with eventual Champions Manchester City.

The Reds will be looking to do the same again this season, looking to build on the success of winning the Champions League last year.

Jurgen Klopp’s men set a new record for the number of points a club finishing second collected in a Premier League season – something I’m sure served as a great consolation.

But Gary Lineker has backed the Reds to go on better this season – he thinks this 2020 is the year that Liverpool finally bring the domestic title back to Anfield.

I think it will be very tight between the two. Before yesterday I was saying Liverpool and I shouldn’t be put off by the fact they won 4-1,he said on BT Sport – as per GMS.

You can’t change. I think it’s really hard to do it and lift yourself for three seasons on the bounce, which has proved to be the case in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola has shown that he just wins leagues year in and year out. I wouldn’t put it past him, but let’s go Liverpool.

Most people are surely expecting City to make it three years on the bounce in the Premier League, after dominating on the domestic front last season.

It’s refreshing to have a voice in the mainstream media backing the Reds to finally end the wait for a league title. A 4-1 win at Anfield is certainly some way to show we’re up for the fight!
