Gary Neville makes ridiculously bold Premier League title claim involving the Reds and Manchester United

Posted by

Gary Neville has claimed that Manchester United will win the Premier League again before the Reds do – claiming the Old Trafford club’s situation is not as bad as some people make out.

The ex-Red Devil often talks a lot of sense on television as a pundit, but on this occasion, he’s clearly got slightly carried away. One decent win in the Premier League against Chelsea at the weekend was all it took!

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said: “I can guarantee you as clear as day, Manchester United will win [things] again. They’ll probably win the league before Liverpool, in my opinion. That’s not being disrespectful.

“What I’m saying is, Liverpool, City, Tottenham – all these clubs have had poor recruitment policies over the last 25 or 30 years at times. United are going through one at the moment.

“Eventually they will stumble upon the right recruitment system, the right recruitment people, they’ll get a great manager – hopefully, that’s Ole – and they’ll start to win again. That’s going to happen. It’s not as bad as you think.”

United might well stumble across a decent enough plan to get them challenging again, but that is far from guaranteed. It might take a while for that to happen, and then it will take time to catch up with the Reds, Manchester City and Tottenham.

The gulf that they would have to overcome after getting their recruitment right is enormous – it’s no overnight job.

After one decent win against Chelsea at the weekend, it seems like Neville has got a little carried away. You never know in football, but to come out with a statement like that is very bold to say the least.
