Oxlade-Chamberlain showed true class following Super Cup

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t enjoy his 45 minutes against Chelsea, but in fairness, it was the midfielder’s first competitive start in well over a year.

He was withdrawn at half-time, but we hope in the coming weeks he’s given chances in central midfield – a role that suits him far better than wide-left.

After Tammy Abraham missed his penalty in the shootout, this image shows Ox consoling the young English striker – who was surrounded by his Chelsea team-mates at the time.

The rest of Liverpool’s squad was celebrating, so we really respect the midfielder for this – but in truth – expect nothing less.

Ox is a quality person, but we just want him to show how good a player he can be too, this term.

His favourite role is as a box-to-box no.8, on the right of Fabinho, most likely.

Apart from Naby Keita, he’s the only midfielder who offers dribbling and runs in behind. He also possesses a venomous shot – as Manchester City found out in our 2018 Champions League run.
