We remember at various points last season hearing from fans and those in the media [such as the Echo] about how Timo Werner would be a very smart addition for Liverpool.
The German international works hard, scores goals and is very flexible – but despite regular links – it didn’t appear we were interested.
Liverpool didn’t buy any senior players in the transfer window bar Adrian, a second-choice goalkeeper who’s only been thrust into the limelight following Alisson’s injury.

According to Bundesliga journalist Ronan Murphy, Rb Leipzig were after €40m for the 23-year-old, but Bayern Munich are only willing to pay €25m for the forward whose contract expires in 2020.
Bayern Munich are not willing to match RB Leipzig’s asking price of €40m for Timo Werner, and are only willing to pay up to €25m, according to Bild. #FCBayern #RBL

€25m for Werner seems mindbogglingly cheap, but with the attacker not set to renew, it looks like he could be available on a Bosman in just a matter of months…
Liverpool usually sign a player who’s either been relegated or someone on a free – so perhaps Werner would provide a very smart option for 2020.
We’d prefer the club to go all out on Jadon Sancho, though.
