Arsenal boss Emery admits he’s scared of Liverpool

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has admitted that the Gunners don’t ever look forward to playing Liverpool, ahead of the upcoming fixture.

The Reds and the Europa League finalists are both chasing a 100% Premier League record this season, after Manchester City, Chelsea and Spurs have all dropped points.

Either Liverpool or Arsenal will lose their winning streak at Anfield next weekend, and Emery hasn’t issued the best rallying war cry ahead of the fixture.

For us, we don’t ever want to play against Liverpool – but it’s really a challenge, a good test,he’s quoted as saying by the Star.

Really our target is to reduce the distance [between us] and Manchester City and Liverpool last season, and when we go to play against them it’s a big moment to show how {much stronger] we can be.

Last week you asked me if we are better now than last year – I don’t know. It’s the same if you ask if we are going to be stronger with those three players up front.

We need all the players to show how we are going to make a big difference to last year with the points.

But I really think we have the spirit in the dressing room and I am very happy because I am seeing the team involved in this process now.

We are going there [to Anfield] with six points from two games. Next week is a very good match for every supporter of Arsenal.

The Arsenal boss is right to fear Liverpool, as we’ve been a relentless force of nature for the entirety of the 2019 calendar year.

Statistically speaking, Anfield is the most difficult place for a travelling team to visit and that should also ring true next weekend.

Arsenal are playing some fine football at the minute, with new signing Nicolas Pepe, but their defence is clearly there for the taking with the likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Bobby Firmino lurking.
