Jordan Henderson only played a few minutes of Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Southampton – and a result, refused Virgil van Dijk’s offer of the armband when he came on.
In the video below, you’ll see Hendo waving off van Dijk’s attempt to give it to him, which by rights, should be his every time he’s on the field.
Some fans still want van Dijk as the official skipper, but Hendo is a terrific example off the pitch, has the respect of his team-mates and led us to Champions League glory just a few months back.
He’s the epitome of a player willing to sacrifice himself for the team and is therefore perfect captain material.
Let’s hope he gets to show off his trademark trophy lifting technique again this season!
