Kevin Nolan has had a crack at a naming a combined Liverpool-Arsenal XI ahead of this weekend’s game, but it includes one inexplicable decision.
Nolan, a Premier League veteran, went with Bernd Leno goal, with last season’s Golden Glove winner Alisson of course sidelined at the moment.
He selected an all-Liverpool back-four, with Joel Matip alongside Virgil van Dijk ahead of Joe Gomez.
The Reds front three also feature, positioned behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who shared the Golden Boot with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
But the shocking choice was in the holding midfield department. Nolan understandably chose Dani Ceballos, fresh off his starring home debut against Burnley, but punted for Joe Willock alongside him.
Willock is certainly an impressive young player, but how can Nolan leave out Fabinho, arguably the best in that position in the Premier League?

This instalment of Liverpool-Arsenal promises to be more closely-fought than in recent years.
