Up-for-sale Kent omitted from U23s squad

Ryan Kent could potentially be nearing a Liverpool exit after being left out of the Under-23 squad for their game against Chelsea on Monday.

Kent had started in the youngsters’ previous game against Spurs but did not travel to Stamford Bridge for the 3-0 defeat.

The winger was involved with the first-team over pre-season but was unable to impress Jurgen Klopp.

He spent last season on loan at Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, and is wanted back at Ibrox.

However, Jurgen Klopp has said that the club will only sanction a permanent move, and while Scottish clubs can still buy players, Kent’s reported £8million price tag is expected to block a return to Glasgow.

The 22-year-old might, then, have to seek a move abroad.

He has previously spent time in the Bundesliga on loan at Freiburg, but only registered six appearances.

Hopefully the club can arrange a move, because it’s nobody’s interest for Kent, who proved last season he still has much to offer, to be wasting a year of his career drifting in and out of Premier League 2 sides.
