Jadon Sancho signs mega-contract; but BVB open up possibility of sale

Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho has penned new terms with the Bundesliga giant that will see his wages rocket to roughly £190k/week, says the Mirror.

The long-term deal puts Dortmund in a strong position regarding the eventual sale of the English winger, which CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has suggested is an inevitability.

“A chief of one of the super clubs asked me back in spring if there was a chance [to sign Sancho] but I told him straight away he should forget about it and he never contacted me again,” Watzke told Ruhr Nachrichten, via MEN.

“There aren’t many 19-year-olds with such a potential.

“He is also not a player from the region or one who would have any connection to it.

“When you have a player like Jadon Sancho, you must reassess the situation every single year. Everything else would not be honest.

“If a foreign player is not convinced that the club is right for him at the exact time, it just does not make any sense [to keep him].”

We’d absolutely love Sancho at Liverpool one day, especially as our main rivals Manchester City allowed him to leave the Etihad for minimal money a few years back.

He’s an elite level wing-forward who could complement and rotate with our front-three – the kind we do not have in the squad right now.

The drop off between Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and then Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain when he plays up top – is vast.

City have the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus warming their bench, so if we’re to compete on four fronts regularly, another world-class attacker should sign when the time is right.

Maybe next summer is when we’ll go big in the transfer market once again, after a practically non-existent 2019.
