Roberto Firmino could make Premier League history during Arsenal clash – and no one would be surprised

Roberto Firmino will become the first Brazilian player in the history of the Premier League to score a half-century of goals should he net once or more against Arsenal this evening.

He overtook Philippe Coutinho last season as the Brazilian with the highest number of Premier League strikes. The Bayern Munich man scored 41 times for the Reds in the league before departing for Barcelona.

Juninho netted 29 for Middlesbrough in total, while current players Willian of Chelsea and Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus both have 28.

According to LiverpoolFC.com, a goal versus the Gunners would also mean Firmino would become the Reds’ outright top scorer against Arsenal. He is currently tied on nine with Gordon Hodgson and Robbie Fowler.

Last season, in this fixture, Firmino scored a hat-trick and he does love a goal against Arsenal, particularly at Anfield, so we certainly would not bet against him grabbing both of those records today.

Even if he doesn’t manage it this evening, it probably won’t be too long before he reaches both milestones anyway.
