‘They know what they have to do’: Jurgen Klopp sends message to Lallana, Lovren and Shaqiri

Jurgen Klopp says chances will come for Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Xherdan Shaqiri in the coming weeks – so they will need to be ready.

Many supporters were concerned about squad depth heading into the new campaign, but at times, the former pair have not even made the bench this season, while the latter has not been seen since the Community Shield at Wembley.

Via the Liverpool ECHO, Klopp said: “Every year is the same and always in the same moment at the beginning of the season. You want to have that, and if you don’t have it then you have injuries from pre-season and that’s the last thing you want.

“I would say in this moment, Shaq didn’t play enough, he is in a really good shape. Adam didn’t play enough, in a really good shape. Dejan didn’t play enough, in a really good shape.

“The boys know what they have to do, they have to be in the best shape they can be. They have to use that to achieve their level, and the chances will come. That’s how it is.”

Whether any of the trio will feature against Arsenal this evening seems unlikely, though Shaqiri could be called upon if the Reds are in need of a goal to change the game.

Lovren might not make the bench again, with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to start and one of Joe Gomez or Joel Matip to be left out of the first XI.

Lallana, who played most of pre-season as a number six, will not be chosen ahead of Fabinho, and might not make the bench either with James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also fit and available for selection.
