LFC captain Henderson not satisfied with Arsenal performance; blames himself for consolation goal

Liverpool comfortably beat Premier League rivals Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield as the Reds saw themselves stay at the summit of the table.

There were huge positives to the game – Bobby Firmino, Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and Joel Matip were all excellent, just to name a few.

But it was the performance from the team, as a whole, that has picked up captain Jordan Henderson’s interest. In his last competitive game, he capped it off by lifting the Champions League trophy, and wants to keep up that standard.

We knew if we did the right things, played to our strengths, defended really well and were clinical in front of goal, then we’d hurt them,he’s quoted as saying by the Independent.

We managed to do that, so overall it was a really good performance. If we want to be really critical, we’re disappointed with the goal. I should have cleared it on the edge of the box.

But we’ve got to be delighted with the three points, it’s tough in the Premier League. Another great performance.

It’s excellent to hear the skipper talking like this. Yes, we won comfortably, but let’s not forget how often Arsenal found themselves in behind our back line – another team could have taken advantage of that more.

Henderson is spot on in his assessment of the game, and it’s humbling for him to bear the weight of the visitor’s only goal – I’m sure Adrian appreciates the suggestion.
