Gerrard’s tongue-in-cheek take on possibility of facing United

Steven Gerrard fancies taking his Rangers side to Old Trafford in this season’s Europa League.

The draw takes place at midday on Friday, with Gerrard’s side having secured qualification in dramatic circumstances with a late winner against Legia Warsaw.

The draws often throw up some fascinating narratives, and there’s a chance Liverpool legend Gerrard could face United for the first time in the dugout.

He’s relishing the chance of frustrating the Red Devils faithful.

“I wouldn’t mind parking the bus at Old Trafford,” a smiling Gerrard joked when asked who he would like to face.

It’s great to see the former skipper, who seems destined to end up as our manager, leading the Gers into Europe again.

He’s already making managerial memories.

“You saw the place (Ibrox after Alfredo Morelos’ 91st-minute winner) at the end and there wasn’t a prouder man in the building than me,” he said.

“It’s moments like tonight that make me feel so proud and make it feel worthwhile. I’m glad I signed up to it.

“I wanted nights like this from a personal point of view.

“But to see my players celebrating with the 47000 fans at the end, it was an emotional time. I was so proud to be the manager of this club out there.”
