Van Dijk hilariously compares Fabinho to cartoon character

Virgil van Dijk paid Fabinho a curious compliment after he impressed again in Liverpool’s win over Burnley.

The Brazilian typically excelled in breaking up play and frustrating the hosts.

Perhaps the standout feature of his game is his almost robotic ability to win tackles.

He makes use of his long legs to nick the ball away from unsuspecting opponents.

And that’s prompted an unusual observation from Virgil van Dijk.

“He’s like Inspector gadget, he’s everywhere,” the Dutchman said in his post-match interview with Sky Sports.

“He’s got these legs that go everywhere.”

Now, this was before my time, but I’m reliably informed that Inspector Gadget was a crime-solving cartoon character who debuted in the 1980s.

It’s a slightly bizarre way to praise Fabinho, but based on the GIF below, it’s somewhat accurate.

You have to wonder which character is best for a comparison to Van Dijk. Maybe Disney‘s Hercules?
