‘There’s no one like him’: Andy Robertson names the one man the Reds would be ‘lost’ without

Andy Robertson says ‘world-class’ Roberto Firmino is so good that the Reds would be ‘lost’ without him in the side.

The Brazilian has been in great form in the early parts of the season and he scored an excellent goal against Burnley, firing into the bottom corner. That was his 50th league goal for the Reds and you can watch it again by clicking here.

The sublime skill he pulled off against Arsenal just over a week ago shows the confidence level that he has at the moment.

According to Goal, Robertson explained: “With his work-rate, his technique, his goals and his all-round play, I don’t think there’s anyone like him. People will say there are better strikers, but for me what he does is so important to our team. We’d be lost without him.

“He does everything – he can do it all. He’s our first line of defence, and I’ve not seen anybody better at doing that. He presses the defenders and doesn’t give them a minute. He comes back and nicks the ball in midfield for us.

“He’s so important defensively for us, then he goes up the park and scores goals and makes assists. That’s what we need him to do. The work he puts in during games is probably more than any other striker in the world.”

Firmino really is one of a kind: if he was to be out for a significant period of time, the Reds would really miss him. It’s not as simple as signing a back-up option in case that happens, either, with very few players in world football similar in style to him, let alone as good as him.

Robertson is spot on. Firmino has been underappreciated a little in comparison to Mo Salah and Sadio Mane over the last few seasons, but the job he does for the team is absolutely vital.
