Reds correspondent reveals club’s plans for Alisson and Keita

Alisson Becker and Naby Keita have been placed on ‘specially designed training regimes’ during the international break in a bid to hasten their recovery, the Echo‘s Paul Gorst reports.

Alisson hobbled out of our season-opening clash with Norwich with a calf injury, while a hip problem sustained on the eve of the UEFA Super Cup has sidelined Keita.

The club has yet to issue a specific timeline on the players’ likely return.

Klopp loosely predicted that Alisson would miss ‘a few weeks’ and, similarly, said prior to our win against Arsenal that Keita would be out for another ‘couple of weeks’.

This break offers a good opportunity for both players to make significant progress.

The Liverpool medical department is looking to capitalise by signing the pair up to ‘bespoke training schedules’ at Melwood.

Gorst has explained that these programmes are usually utilised in pre-season but have been adapted with a view to ‘stepping-up the recovery process’.

Their respective comebacks will represent important boosts. Alisson is of course a world-class, difference-making ‘keeper and Keita is looking to truly come into his own during his second season in England.
