The match that left Klopp ‘dismayed’ by LFC’s lack of ‘physicality’ which inspired ‘revolution’

Liverpool right now are arguably the most physically impressive side in the country.

Our fullbacks are rapid, our centre-backs are huge and powerful – as is our holding midfielder Fabinho.

The other midfielders who play alongside the Brazilian have phenomenal engines, while the front-three are strong, quick, robust and agile.

There was a time not long ago though that Jurgen Klopp was disgusted at the team’s inability to compete physically with opponents…

Paul Joyce has penned an article in the Times which claims it was Liverpool’s miserable 2-0 defeat to Leicester at the King Power Stadium in 2016 that convinced the boss change was needed – and fast:

“Opinions had already been formed even before he had set foot on the coach out of the King Power stadium,” Joyce writes.

“He was dismayed by Liverpool’s inability to compete physically and perform the basics he felt were needed in the English top flight. Evolution or revolution — call it what you will — was coming.”

The only players who feature regularly for Klopp who started on that night are Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson.

Klopp’s revolution has turned Liverpool into one of the best teams on the planet and one of the best sides the Premier League has ever seen.

Irritatingly, we’re up against Manchester City, who are also in that bracket and have the most ludicrously strong squad in English history.

Still, if anyone’s going to win the title against them, it’ll be Klopp’s brutal Reds.
