Bobby Duncan makes Fiorentina debut four days after leaving Liverpool – and it’s time fans get over it

Former Liverpool youngster Bobby Duncan has made his first appearance for Fiorentina, after coming on as a second half substitute in a friendly against Perugia.

The teenager was introduced into the game as the Tuscany outfit ran out 1-0 winners over the Serie B club.

It’s to be expected that Duncan will spend the majority of the season on the bench and in the reserves for Fiorentina, but this cameo against Perugia hints he may get more game time than previously thought.

The striker has been given the 26 shirt, and I’d expect the young Merseysider to play a similar role at Fiorentina as what we’d expect from Rhian Brewster at Liverpool.

But now the Saif Rubie fiasco is over, and Duncan got the move he seemingly wanted, it’s time we give the 18-year-old a break.

He’s a Fiorentina player now, and even though he left if very bitter circumstances, the way of which he left the club was down to his agent.

The Reds didn’t lose out entirely on the deal; we originally paid £200,000 for the forward and managed to reap close to £2million – an incredible return for the youngster.

Obviously, fans wanted him to kick on – with Paul Glatzel – and be the next breakthrough star at the club, but it just wasn’t to be.

Buona fortuna nella Italia, Bobby.
