Liverpool to beat Juventus to January signing of 23-year-old goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir – report

Liverpool are reportedly set to pip Juventus to the signing of Trabzonspor’s Ugurcan Cakir, after reports earlier this month that the Reds have sent scouts to watch the goalkeeper.

Recent reports had suggested that the Serie A giants were interested in taking the Turkish stopper to Turin, but it now appears that the Reds have jumped the queue.

According to Gunes, as per TEAMtalk, Jurgen Klopp is eyeing up a move for Cakir in the January transfer window and a bid of around £27million is believed to be enough to get the deal over the line.

It’s thought that Liverpool sent scouts to watch Trabzonspor’s 1-1 draw away at title-chasing Fenerbahce, according to the Star, with the primary aim being to watch the goalkeeper.

Cakir is only 23-years-old and would be seen as Alisson’s long-term deputy after a hastily-arranged move for veteran Adrian over the summer.

The young Turk made his debut in September 2017 and stepped-up his involvement the following season. He has now been able to nail-down the no.1 spot for the Europa League outfit.

He has made 41 appearances for the club and kept nine clean sheets in all, and if the report is to be believed then the Reds may call upon former striker Daniel Sturridge to convince Cakir to sign for us.
