Report: Reds man set to earn deserved recall for England

Reds right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to be recalled into the England starting XI for the Euro 2020 qualifier against Kosovo on Tuesday evening, according to the Daily Mail.

Gareth Southgate is expected to make very few changes to the team that beat Bulgaria on Friday night, so Alexander-Arnold is likely to be starting along with Jordan Henderson, who played at Wembley for his country last time out.

Kosovo are currently 120th in the FIFA world rankings, but are on a 15-game unbeaten run stretching back over a year and beat the Czech Republic last week. Southgate views them as being a significant threat and therefore will turn to his strongest side.

Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier started ahead of him last week, but there is a gulf in quality between the pair, with Alexander-Arnold much the better player.

Very few Reds fans care about the fortunes of England, but it must be said that it will mean a lot to the players involved. Alexander-Arnold will have been disappointed to miss out on Friday, so will want to make the most of his chance here if he does indeed come into the team.

As long as he doesn’t get injured, it can only be a good thing that he performs well for his country as well as his club, building confidence and momentum.
