Napoli chief echoes Klopp in Reds rallying cry

Napoli chief Aurelio de Laurentiis has looked to fire-up his team ahead of their meeting with Liverpool in a manner strikingly similar to Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds begin the defence of their title next week with a second Group Stage trip to the Stadio San Paolo in 12 months.

We’re becoming increasingly familiar opponents following a pre-season clash in Edinburgh.

Napoli easily won that game 3-0 as we looked out-of-sorts, but De Laurentiis says they won’t be bullish as a result.

In fact, he has turned to Klopp’s ‘stay angry’ refrain as he emphasises the task ahead.

“We beat the Reds in a friendly with a wide margin, but I wouldn’t want that to give our people some peace of mind,” he told Sky Sport, as quoted by Teamtalk.

“We must enter the field very angry, very concentrated as if we were playing the game of the year.

“Because every game must be the match of the year, only in this way can we reach goals.”

We should be aware of Napoli’s likely longing for revenge after sending them into the Europa League with that intense 1-0 win last December.

Still, even if we were to beaten in Naples once again, you’d very much back us to ease into the knockout rounds with games against Salzburg and Genk to follow.
