Virgil van Dijk’s Netherlands met Estonia, captained by former Red Ragnar Klavan, in European championship qualifying on Monday night.
Rather unsurprisingly, the in-form Dutch ran out 4-0 winners, with Georginio Wijnaldum among the goals.
But despite his side’s heavy defeat, Klavan remained in good spirits and took time after the match to swap shirts with former team-mate Van Dijk.
Klavan accrued great popularity among the Reds fanbase in his two seasons at Anfield prior to his move to Cagliari in 2018.
That was the result of a string of solid performances embellished by some eye-catching tricks and turns unbefitting of a no-nonsense centre-back.
Many, then, framed the video below, taken by the official @OnsOranje Twitter account, as a meeting of two elite defenders.
