Jurgen Klopp names surprise Manchester United man he believes has ‘great potential’

Jurgen Klopp says Scott McTominay, the Manchester United central midfielder, is a player he rates highly.

Discussing Andy Robertson’s situation with Scotland, the national team that he captains, Klopp was keen to point out that there are other good players that have to take responsibility for their recent poor results.

Robertson got a bit of criticism over the international break with his side losing at home to Russia and Belgium, putting their chances of qualifying for Euro 2020 at risk.

Via the Daily Express, Klopp said: “Expectations are too high [with Scotland]. It’s not because of Robbo you don’t win. As a left-back, you can’t win a game alone. It’s just not possible.

“He doesn’t have to though because you have other good guys – John McGinn, what a super player he is; Robert Snodgrass, a wonderful player; Scott McTominay has great potential.”

Aston Villa’s McGinn has certainly got a lot of talent – he will be a player to keep an eye on this season, and even if the Midlands side go back down to the Championship, he will be one who secures a move to another Premier League side.

Snodgrass and McTominay are both decent enough, but neither are particularly exciting. We certainly wouldn’t want to swap the latter for any of the Reds midfielders!
