Sadio Mane has had an unbelievable few months, and while Roberto Firmino rightly took centre stage yesterday for his hypnotic control and a stunning assist for Mo Salah’s goal, the Senegalese winger was absolutely brilliant too.

Mane’s equaliser came at a vital time and then he pressed on again to put the Reds in front when Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka failed to hold onto the ball and he was able to pounce.

They weren’t the only things that made Reds fans applaud yesterday: Mane also produced a lovely piece of skill – not once, but twice – in the middle of the pitch to keep hold of possession.

Mane picked up a bit of a knock in the game but should be fine to face Napoli on Tuesday evening in the opening game of the Champions League group stages. The Reds then face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next Sunday in the Premier League.
