Loris Karius refuses to talk about potential Liverpool return after Besiktas loan

German goalkeeper Loris Karius has been quizzed about his potential future at Liverpool, while still on loan at Turkish outfit Besiktas.

Karius left Anfield on unsavoury terms, after a horrific performance in the 2018 Champions League final in which he suffered a concussion.

The Reds lost the showdown, and were outclassed by Real Madrid in Kiev, but it wasn’t necessarily the end of the young German’s career on Merseyside.

The long-term loan may help the stopper though, as he’s learning to play the game again in a new environment – whether he comes back to Liverpool or not.

Karius has turned things around at Besiktas, and is concentrating on life in Turkey. “I’m not thinking about [returning to Liverpool] at the moment,he told Turkish outlet Star (as per Sport Witness).

There’s still a long way to go before my loan spell ends. I am focusing on matches, my performances. We will talk about it at the end of the season.

It’s good that Karius is getting his head down – he needs to time to get over what happened. I can’t imagine the pain he felt after that final in Ukraine.

(Unpopular) Opinion

I’d be interested to see the German return to Liverpool, after his loan with Besiktas. I think he played really well in the build up to said Champions League final.

Bringing him in to learn from Alisson and Adrian could be an option. The Spaniard isn’t a long-term option for the Reds so it’d be handy for us to have another back-up on the roster.

That being said, if the right offer comes in for him then I can see him being moved on. It’d be a shame, but we’ve got young goalkeepers Kamil Grabara and Caoimhin Kelleher who seem to be coming along nicely for now.
