Jurgen Klopp provides tentative update on Sadio Mane’s fitness following Chelsea ‘knock’

Jurgen Klopp says that Sadio Mane was taken off during the Chelsea game in the Premier League because he had a dead leg and a knock to the knee.

It is unknown at the time of writing just what the impact of the injury will be in terms of the Sengalese winger’s participation in upcoming matches, but it is at least a good excuse to leave him at home when the Reds travel to MK Dons in the middle of the week.

Mane did not have his best game at Stamford Bridge and was subdued in the second half, but this knock perhaps provides an explanation as to why that was.

It seemed like a bizarre call to take him off, rather than replacing Gini Wijnaldum, when James Milner entered the pitch, but this was why Klopp opted to do that.

The Reds face Sheffield United in Yorkshire next weekend in their next Premier League fixture.
